5. Dec 2008

Hey again. It’s been quite some time that I have written here last. But that’s not because I’ve been lazy, either because there has nothing happened or there has happened quite a few things and I just haven’t had the chance to write anything.

But actually I won’t write anything here yet what I have done. I am quite tired so everything I shortly say is that we can’t do our licences in NSW. We went to Lithgow and Katoomba, did some shopping and after that did the Six Foot Track again. Just got back today. We had few drinks and now I ready to bed. I kind of got pissed today too, with no reason and not obviously. I mean that we were having drinks with bunch of people, later on one guy and lady came to the bar and someone started talking with them, guy made some card tricks and was ok. I didn’t have anything against it. Only thing that might have been annoying was people talking over each other and disrupting, when talking, but I am kind of used to it and that’s what happens if there is many people. But the thing pissed me off when Rosie started screaming and was kind of moody with no reason. She is nice girl, but somehow this was last I could stand and I decided to come to bed, and I don’t really know the real reason. People kind of seemed to be quite drunk too and I felt too sober to just stay there, because there is more better things to do than just doing nothing. Anyways it made me feel better now after I have written it and it is time to go to bed, so I will talk about what I have done later.

Tomorrow gonna see if we can do the Mammoth tour, not sure if we can, it might be booked up, so gotta wake early. Maybe in the evening we are going to Megan’s birthday, we weren’t invited directly tho, but Rosie wants us to come with her I think, mostly Kaupo. We will see about it. So long, good night.

6. Dec 2008

I think I haven’t written here so early before, but the reason I am doing it is because the Mammoth tour is booked up and there isn’t much else to do.

We are having week off at the moment and have already been off from work since Monday, so it’s 6th day today and I am feeling awesome. On our first day we went to Lithgow to do some shopping, Sam took us there. First thing was that we found ourselves a place to stay at night, actually Sam did. We stayed in one pub in there, which was actually quite expensive, tho it looked like those cheap motels from American movies, that place was quite alright, small, but we had our own bathroom and breakfast was in the price.

We got in Lithgow quite late, so most stores were closes. We spent little time to get to know the place, bought our dinner, ate and went to sleep. In the morning woke up quite early to have breakfast, check out and go shopping. They let us to leave our bags in there, so it was good.

We went to see bikes, went to second hand store where we found few things. I found bongos that I wanted, but I didn’t buy them yet, because I didn’t want to carry them all the day. We found some cards that we are going to send to Estonia. Also I bought that Christmas hat, don’t know how you call it and hairspray :P. Looked for joggers and sleeping bag too, saw couple of them that would have been good, but joggers they didn’t have the sizes I needed and sleeping bag I hoped to get a better one, so decided to get them from Katoomba then. I bought another pants for Six Foot Track and more sporty. We found one place where we got some cheap nuts too, otherwise all the nuts in Coles and other stores are fukin expensive, like 10 bucks for small pack, so we just had to buy some :P. Kaupo was trying to find a jumper, but didn’t find a good one.

We headed to Katoomba now, because we hoped that there will be cheaper place to stay, we find the stuff we need and we had to go there anyways to do the Six Foot Track. Got our bags from the pub, I bought my bongos and we went to train station and waited for the train. On our way to Katoomba I fell a sleep on the train, but I still managed to see some breathtaking views of the mountains.

When we got to Katoomba, one guy started talking about Jesus with us and said that Katoomba is the place where you have to find yourself or you die or something like that, what ever. And he also asked us to come to Spain in the year 2011, something youth thing is happening then.

We went to the backpackers and got ourselves a room in there. Left our stuff in there. And once again because it was quite late all the stores were closed so we just looked around. Went to Coles, get some food for the night and then got few beers also. Headed back to backpackers, ate, drank some beer and went to bed.

In the morning once again woke up quite early, because others were coming there quite early. Had quick shower and after that it turned out that they are already in Katoomba, so we had quick breakfast, checked out and went to see where they are. Surprisingly we took another way and found them straight away, because they were in the other place we thought. Jo was in the Coles, we left our bags next to the car and went to see him and buy some stuff.

In Coles we bought some sausages, noodles, beans and something more too I think, but don’t remember all. After that we went to the liquor store to buy some Jack, but Jo left his ID in the car so we couldn’t get it, stupid rules here, asking ID from everyone who you are with. We went to the car, Jo grabbed his ID and we went to find gas for our gas stove, I needed sleeping bag and joggers too. So we went to see couple of stores, but didn’t find any gas. I got my sleeping bag tho, it was more expensive than I hoped for, but also I got smaller one too than I thought I would. We also bought the Jacks we wanted before, now when Jo had his ID with him. I remembered that Judith had bought the gas for us last time from Coles I think, so we went to see there again. We did find the gas from there, but I was still missing joggers, so I went to K-Mart next door. I didn’t find as good joggers I hoped I would, but I needed them real badly and they were actually quite cheap. In general I think I am happy.

So we all packed our bags again near car and Hugh took us all to the Six Foot Track starting point, tho he needed to make 2 trips. That’s how our second Six Foot Track journey started.

Beginning was quite easy, tho I think my bag was heavier than last time, but it wasn’t so bad, little harder to go down than last time maybe. Rest of the first day trip was quite boring, girls were quite dead in the end of the first day and they actually wanted to quit and go home. But it wasn’t going to happen that evening, because there was problem with getting signal and no one could pick them up this evening too.

So we set up our camp again in the same place we did last time. Jo saw a snake in there, when we went swimming there, I wanted to see it too, but it already left by the time I got there. Me and Jo went to get some water from camping grounds near us, where there was fresh water, because we actually had drank quite a lot of water that day and needed more for dinner and morning. We set up our tents, made fire and cooked food. Later on made sausages on fire, drank Jack and just chatted. After girls went to sleep we stayed up for a bit and just sat and talked, but not for very long because we were actually quite tired.

In the morning I was the first one up, made fire and walked around a bit. It was beautiful actually and only noises you heard were the river, some fishes in the river sometimes and wild animals, just wonderful. Little bit later Jo waked up and after that Kaupo. We were just sitting there and waited for girls to wake up. Rosie got up first and I think she was really hungry because first thing she did was made some pasta for herself. Anyways after her we made some beans to get our bags lighter and cooked sausages on fire. After all got up and had eaten, we packed up our camp and moved on. We got to the swing bridge and there me and Kaupo actually found another real cool camping place, but not this time. After little walking we reached to camping ground, there we filled up our water bottles.

After that the hardest part of our trip started. And the girls decided to stay with us. I just went in front, because I wanted to go in my own pace and not to worry about others, because I knew how hard it is and had enough problems of getting myself up from the mountain. Actually girls did really good there. Kaupo helped Rosie and Agathe just made stops every 2 min, but in general all got up in one piece. During our way up I managed to see 2 snakes and one fukin big lizard, SCAREY. When we got the hardest part done we decided to continue walking for a while, so it would be easier next day. We passed the 15 km sign and I found us a quite good camping place, only problem was tho the ground, it was real hard, but we had to survive, because we wouldn’t have found a better place that night.

We set up our camp in middle of nowhere in the mountains and in the bush. Nothing special, but we were real tired and that place did well for us. Usual thing, put up tents, light a fire and made some food, of course we finished Jack. Went to sleep, but before we put all we could find on the ground, so it would be softer.

In the morning there was some rain, but nothing real heavy and anyways we were still sleeping at that time. This time Jo was first one up, then Kaupo, but I stayed to sleep for a bit more. And girls were the last ones up. We had our breakfast, packed up and started walking again. I felt really good in the morning actually, nothing really hurt badly, maybe only shoulders where I got little sunburnt, but not like muscles or anything much. And this time I had done much better than last time, didn’t have so many breaks and had been faster than others so far. Tho there was a moment when my bag got really heavy for me, that was like half way through second day, but at lunch time got it little lighter and Kaupo and Jo helped me.

We were quite low on water so we had to save as much water as possible in that evening and morning. So when we started walking in the morning only thing I was thinking about was reaching the water. On our way to the camping grounds where the water is we passed through three other guys doing the Six Foot Track, but the other way. When I reached the camping grounds I filled couple of bottles, drank as much as I could and waited for others. So when they reached there they had fresh water straight away.

In there we stopped for a while. We ate as much as we could and tried to make our bags as light as we could. We ate a lot, left few things behind too tho. After like hour or two break we packed up and started walking again. We only took two bottles of water each, because Jenolan wasn’t so far anymore and bags were light. That part we just kept going to reach to Jenolan, so only few small stops. Near Jenolan Caves Cottages, we met Hugh who had started walking to meet us too. So there we had little longer break. After that we kept going, near the Cottages there were kangaroos eating on the field and others stayed there to feed them, but me and Rosie just kept going. And we kept going till we reached Jenolan.

In Jenolan we went to the bistro, had cold drinks and just sat there for a while. Then we went to take a shower and after that we headed to the bar to have a beer. Rosie was already there with Hugh and Gary, so we joined them. Later on Jo came there also. We sat there pretty much whole evening and drank few beers and later started drinking rum with coke. I think everyone got drunk really easily, because not much food and we just finished the Six Foot Track. And anyways I already talked about that night.

So this should be enough for the moment.

Time to go to eat.
